Reflection / Video
Reflection on change: This is a claymation that my class made years ago. I just learned how to post it on school tube. I have been wanting to do more media presentations such as these but have not been able to for various reasons. I am wanting to use technology to publish individual students or classroom work. I would like to have them participating in the digital world more though blogs, using the computers to type versus writing in a notebook, Photo Story, Movie Maker, iMovie, etc.. I know there are websites where students can share work, too. How motivating! This is how I would like to make a permanent change.

This claymation is adorable. Did the kids decide how to make their monsters move? :) After looking through the different videos online, I too have realized that I need to do more media presentations with my students. I know I could try to do a lot of these things as a whole-class, but I'm trying to wrap my head around having the students do these things independently with only one classroom computer. I actually emailed my principal and technology department today begging for more computers. :) Have you used Photo Story or Movie Maker with your students? I have used Movie Maker to put pictures together of my students, but they have never used it.
ReplyDeleteThe students helped some. We had discussions on how we would take the pictures, especially as they were making their monster. For instance, green has to have big feet to make it easier to have her go up on her toes and back down. This is only two movements and then you just repeat these pictures when you animate. I took most the pictures. I have used Photo Story once to help illustrate rhymes. I made an IMovie(on a MAC) with music and photos of them I took throughout the school year called, The Very Hungry Kindergartener". The pictures are in sequential order. I hope you can get more computers. Ask for a webcam while you are at it if you would be interested in skyping. Our students could shares work with one another, things they are learning, etc. if you are interested.
ReplyDeleteThat would be great to share information/skype between our two classes. I am assuming that you do a lot with Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, since that's the title of your blog. :) We do reader's theatre with that story and I have put that together with movie maker. I really need to do more of that, but I feel like I just can't get it all in!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI loved the video! You have me thinking of all kinds of things I could do with my class next year. We also just got a flip cam so I could have the students actually act out stories and make movies. Thanks for sharing. What do you think is the best editing software to use?
ReplyDeleteI am not for sure what would be easiest. I suggest IMovie if you have a MAC, otherwise try PhotoStory or Movie Maker, they are fairly user friendly.
ReplyDeleteI love this!! Using this resource to display student's creativity and sharing it with people outside of their classroom, across the street and with schools and students miles and miles away- the possibilities are endless!!
ReplyDeleteI love the video!!! It looks and sounds like your students had a blast! I would love to do something like this with my students. I have used PhotoStory and Flip cameras before but never anything this cute! I am sure the time involved with this type of project would be a challenge. Did you have help from any other adults in creating this video?
ReplyDeleteI had some help from a technology staff member with recording students singing. Some help with photographing pictures. It gets easier with each production. This is my third. Since I have not completed one in some time I need a refresher.
ReplyDeleteEmily, I would love to see your class do Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. I think this would be an excellent skyping idea.
